Wood, William Albert (1865 - 1918) -- Philadelphia Architects and Buildings

William Albert Wood, who spent most of his professional life in the firm of the G. W. and W. D. Hewitt and its successors, was born in Coldwater, MI, to Joseph Wood, Jr., and Agnes L. Wood. He studied for approximately two years at the Franklin Institute (roughly 1886-87) and spent an additional year studying mechanical drawing at Drexel Institute (1893-94). He also worked for the Hewitt firm beginning in January, 1882 and remaining for some 35 years, progressing from student draftsman to office superintendant and head draftsman.

Wood joined the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 1918 and was also a member of its Philadelphia Chapter. According to his application for Philadelphia Chapter, AIA, membership, he was also a member of the T-Square Club.
