Biography from the American Architects and Buildings database

Born in Scranton, PA, Searle H. von Storch would eventually establish offices both in Scranton and Philadelphia. He gained a Bachelors of Architecture from Cornell University in 1923, winning the Charles Goodwin Sands and Clifton Beckwith Brown Medals for Design, but had also spent some three years studying at the University of Pennsylvania. By around 1928 he had established his first partnership, Morgan & von Storch, Philadelphia, Scranton, and New York (1928-1931). From 1930 to 1945 he worked independently in Scranton, but then in 1945 established a new partnership von Storch & Pearce in Scranton (1945-1950). In 1957 he organized yet another partnership with offices in both Waverley and Philadelphia von Storch & Burkavage, with civil engineer William J. Burkavage.
