Adam C. Wagner appears in the Philadelphia city directories as either an architect or an engineer for the years 1883 to 1901. Breweries were his specialty, and he worked for some of the largest brewing companies in and out of Philadelphia, including Weisbrod & Hess (Philadelphia), Anheuser-Busch (Philadelphia), Bavarian Brewing Company (Wilmington, DE), and Steigmaier Brewery (Wilkes-Barre, PA). According to a notice appearing in the Philadelphia Real Estate Record and Builders Guide in 27 September 1899, the plans for the Breidt City Brewery in Elizabeth, NJ, were being prepared by American Engineers & Architects Company," successors to A. C. Wagner. This implies that Wagner had had perhaps moved away from Philadelphia, a speculation which is reinforced by his 1901 Philadelphia city directory listing which cites Hartford (CT?) as his residence.
