Designer, with Edward Durell Stone, of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City (1938-39), Philip L. Goodwin was educated at Yale University, graduating in 1907,. He then studied architecture at Columbia University, supplementing that with Parisian study from 1914-1915. Upon his return to the States, Goodwin undertook work with the New York office of Delano & Aldrich (1914-1916). His first partnership venture produced Goodwin, Bullard & Woolsey, but by 1921 he was practicing independently.
Goodwin retired from practice in 1953.
