Died: 1818

The Southwark district master builder Alexander Steel was elected to The Carpenter's Company in 1791 and is recorded as having served on the Governing Committee in 1801. He was a subscriber to Owen Biddle, The Young Carpenter's Assistant (Philadelphia, 1805), one of the earliest American books of architecture.
