Born in Reading, PA, to carpenter Solomon Spohn, Daniel Spohn launched his own building and development business at an early age. At first it appears that he specialized in workingmen's houses, but later he included schools, the city hall, and other public buildings within his repertoire.
Spohn was one of the organizers of the Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Reading.
