Born in Prussian Silesia, Henry Fernbach received his education at the Berlin Building Academy and subsequently emigrated to the United States around 1855, settling in New York City. Known chiefly for his synagogue designs in New York City, Fernbach designed the Victory Building at 1001-1005 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia in 1873.
