Born in Philadelphia, PA, Leslie Palmer Cruise, Jr. trained at the University of Pennsylvania, completing a B. Arch. in 1950 after serving in the U. S. Army in World War II. In 1951, he joined the Wilmington, DE office of G. Morris Whiteside as a senior draftsman, remaining there until 1953. Cruise subsequently worked in the office of Savery, Scheetz & Gilmour (1956-1957), and as a project manager for J. Wigmore (1957-1959), before becoming the office manager for George W. Neff in 1959. Cruise joined the firm of Day & Zimmerman as an architect before 1962.
