Established by Albert E. Yarnall after Joseph Cooper of Yarnall & Cooper died, this office benefited from the architectural training received at the University of Pennsylvania by William D. Goforth. Although the firm appears to have specialized in residential development, with enterprises as far afield as Georgia and Virginia, the partners also engaged in the design of several hotels, including the Palace Hotel in Goshen, VA (1890), the Piedmont Hotel in Alabama (1890), the Brunswick Hotel in Waynesboro, VA (1890), the Southern Improvement hotel and social club in Warm Springs, VA (1891). By 1900 individual citations for Albert E. Yarnall begin to appear in the Philadelphia Real Estate Record and Builders Guide.
