Pittsburgh, PA native Louis A. Goldberg's architectural studies, begun in 1943 at Pennsylvania State College, were interrupted by World War II military service. After the war, he attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology and ultimately completed a B. Arch. at the University of Pennsylvania in 1953. Goldberg began his career as a draftsman in the Pittsburgh office of Harvey A. Schwab. After his move to Philadelphia, Goldberg found work in the office of Howell Lewis Shay. He subsequently was employed as a project architect for the Department of Defense of State of New Jersey, and with the Ballinger Co. Before forming a partnership in 1960 with Donald Nauta, Goldberg was also an associate architect in the office of Philip Mastrin. Goldberg & Nauta continued until 1963. Goldberg was based in Levittown, PA after that date.
Goldberg joined the national AIA in 1960. He was a member of Bucks County Chapter, serving as its president in 1960-1961.
