Born: 12/20/1912, Died: 8/8/1995

John F. Dunlap was born in Philadelphia, the son of architect M. Edmunds Dunlap, and attended Roxborough High School before receiving his architectural education at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a B. Arch. in 1935. Dunlap probably joined his father's office (then Davis & Dunlap) immediately after completing his degree, and was certainly in the firm by 1937. Dunlap may have been a principal in the practice (which became Davis, Dunlap & Carver in 1945) as early as 1941, when he joined the national AIA. He was probably at the head of the firm when it reverted to the name Davis & Dunlap in 1953. In 1958, Dunlap formed a partnership with Anthony Rienzi, who had been a draftsman for Davis & Dunlap (1937-1941) and the chief draftsman in the office from 1950. Dunlap probably retired around 1965, when Dunlap & Rienzi was dissolved; he ceased to be a member of the AIA by 1967. A long-term resident of Abington, PA, he served on the Township Planning Commission there in the early 1980s.
