Established in 1945 by John S. Carver, M. Edmunds Dunlap, and Paul A. Davis, Davis, Dunlap & Carver succeeded a number of other Davis family offices. Although the firm inherited a specialty in schools and collegiate buildings, they also engaged in the public housing boom in Philadelphia in the 1940s and contributed to the Tasker Housing project.
