Aaron Clarke was elected to membership in the Carpenters Company of Philadelphia in 1794. Clark was elected after being proposed by Samuel Jones. He resided at 12, Carter’s Alley in 1794. He was not listed in the City Directory before or after 1794. An advertisement in the Pennsylvania Gazette from 1796 describes him as sawmill operator with a mill at “the upper end of Front street.” His sawn wood was fit for carpenters, Joiners, Shipbuilders and others. Aaron Clark is credited as the house carpenter for 528 Spruce street.
