This New Castle, PA, office benefitted from the earlier work of Carroll C. Thayer in gaining important public commissions. During the early twentieth century, after A. L. Thayer graduated from the University of Illinois, the office expanded its commissions into Ohio while retaining its Pennsylvania office. Around 1920 the office changed its name to Thayer & Thayer, and soon after A. L. Thayer moved to Cleveland, OH, where he opened Thayer & Johnson.
