Born: 1864, Died: 5/12/1932 William P. Cresson was born in Claymont, DE, and attended the University of Pennsylvania for one year in the Class of 1895. He then spend six months as a draftsman for Cope & Stewardson and six months as a U.S. Navy draftsman, according to his 1908 application for membership in the American Institute of Architects. Some five years were also spent in Europe, where he entered the Ecole in 1896 and studied with Blondel. Although Cresson did practice architecture for a few years, his career was extremely diverse as he served as a diplomat, soldier, professor of international law, etc. One distinguishing personal note is his marriage to Margaret French, daughter of the American sculptor Daniel Chester French.
