Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, Jonathan Dyer graduated from Haverford School and then from Princeton University (1967). In that year he began employment with Vincent G. Kling & Associates, where he specialized in master plans for airport design (Washington National Airport and Philadelphia International Airport). In 1971 he joined the British firm of T. P. Bennett & Son, with an office in London. The Bennett office concentrated on urban projects.
In 1971, back in the United States, Dyer worked for EwingCole, again creating a specialty in large-scale projects such as the Meadowlands Racetrack Hahnemann Hospital and Lankenau Hospital. By 1979 Dyer had moved to Space Data Group, later Space Design Inc. He served as president for this company through 2013.
