Neubauer & Supowitz operated out of offices at 929 Chestnut Street. Although their practice included a number of industrial or commercial buildings (including 20 manufacturing buildings for the Norfolk Shipyard Corporation in Norfolk, VA, 1920), by 1921 David Supowitz's interest in theatre design was emerging with their work on the Grand Amusement Company theatre on Jackson Street between 5th and 6th streets in Philadelphia. This was followed in 1922 by the Cayuga Theatre on Germantown Avenue and Cayuga Street.
