Originating in the firm of H. H. Richardson and eventually occupying offices in Pittsburgh, PA, and Boston, MA, Longfellow, Alden & Harlow became a prominent office in Pittsburgh, designing Carnegie libraries both in Pittsburgh and in its surrounding towns. It was also the chief architect for the Carnegie Institute at the turn of the century.
