Albert F. Schenck was born in Philadelphia, the son of Albert and Henrietta (Rommel) Schenck. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1900 with his B.S. in Architecture and followed with supplementary courses in architectural design taken at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1902/03, 1903, and 1904/05. By 1912 he had launched his own office, one which specialized in residential and Lutheran church design. He served on the Committee on Church Architecture of the United Lutheran Church in America from 1926 until his death.
Schenck joined the Philadelphia Chapter of the AIA in 1927.
