Alphonso C. Ireland was a master builder elected to The Carpenters' Company in 1799. In Philadelphia city directories he cites himself as a carpenter from 1797 to 1818. In 1818 he added "and measurer of carpenters' work" and from 1824 to 1830 he amended this to "carpenter, city regulator, and measurer of carpenters' work."
