William Lownes was a master builder elected to The Carpenters' Company prior to 1768. From 1773 through 1775 he was elected a Philadelphia City Assessor and was probably actively floowing his craft inasmuch as he took several apprentices in the early 1770s. After the Revolution he lived in Bucks County and was excluded from The Company, probably for failure to pay his dues, in 1809.
