The Brumbaugh Papers are arranged in several series. Only the Drawings series is represented here. The various sub-series within the Drawings include a variety of media, including original pencil drawings, blueline prints, blueprints, tissue drawings, and rendered studies. Because of the extent of material, not all files were reviewed and some information on call numbers (usually those locations indicated in parentheses) was taken from the Brumbaugh Papers database inventory. Inevitably, discrepancies between the PAB database and the Downs Collection database will appear due to human and computer errors. The thorough researcher is advised to use both. |
Other series will also provide important information on Brumbaugh's projects. Surveys consist of pencil sketches of existing building conditions, primarily from the 1940's to 1980's (often made by Brumbaugh's associate Alfred Ruthrauff). Rendered Studies, largely from 1965 on, are 8 x 10 photographic reproductions, for which most original sketches may be found in Drawings. A Photograph series includes images of Brumbaugh projects and other architectural subjects (see also subseries P in Drawings). The Office Files contain a wide range of materials, including specifications, accounts, correspondence, and notebooks relating to projects, as well as other professional records. They appear to be more complete for work done previous to 1970.
