Collection Description

The bulk of the collection comprises materials related to Alexander Jackson Davis (1803-1892), including two letterbooks and a number of remarkable hand-rendered engravings. Garvan also donated a small amount of material related to his other interests, including one published architectural drawing by Frank Lloyd Wright. The collection contains correspondence of Anthony Garvan related to the acquisition of materials in the collection, but no materials related to Garvan's teaching, publications or personal life. Garvan's personal and professional papers can be consulted at the University of Pennsylvania Archives: Garvan, Anthony N.B. Papers, 1944-1984.
