Glazer, Philadelphia theatres, A-Z give the name of this theater as the Kent Theatre, 2649 Kensington Avenue, with alternative names Peoples Theatre & Desmond Theatre. According to Glazer, this structure was originally built as the Peoples Theater, which opened in Aug. 1890. There was a major reconstruction in 1914 by architect Thomas Lamb. From 1924 to 1926 it was called the Desmond Theatre. In 1927, Hoffman and Henon faced the structure in sand brick. Glazer does not acknowledge the name "Kenton Theatre" shown in the Hoffman - Henon rendering & used as an identifying label on the verso of the "E.C. Luks" photo.
