Holding Information

Collection: Linfoot Collection
Institution: Athenaeum of Philadelphia
MARC Description:
This item shows no identification of the house. The inscription in the lower right corner reads "Pen & ink by Benjamin Linfoot, Philada. 1885". Comparison of visual elements and the date in this drawing with the print "The Hall, Bardwold, Merion P.R.R. near Philadelphia, the residence of Mrs. A.W. Baird / Benjamin Linfoot, architect, 719 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, 1885", cataloged separately, provides the identification used in the title above. Particularly, the shape of the transom over the main entrance to the room, corresponds to that shown to the right of the woman & child in "The Hall". Also, the urn & decorative elements of the grand stair in the two images suggest the same house.
